Ducketts Common, together with Green Gate Common, forms a 3.5 hectare public park in Harringay, in the London Borough of Haringey. Located opposite Turnpike Lane tube station, by Green Lanes, ''Ducketts Common'' is a remnant of Dovecote Farm, which was purchased in 1862 for development. The streets to the south and west of the common were built by 1887.〔(History of Ducketts Common ), Haringey Council - Accessed 1 Jun 2010〕 The name 'Ducketts' originated from Laurence Duket, a thirteenth-century landowner.〔 ''Green Gate Common'' is a small area of open space located just across Green Lanes from Ducketts Common, and it is thought that air raid shelters may exist beneath it.〔 A group of local residents working closely with Haringey Council help to raise funds and improve all aspects of the park. Details for the 'Friends of Ducketts Common' can be found on their web site (www.duckettscommon.org.uk/ ) Ducketts Common was awarded a London in Bloom 'silver gilt' award in 2013 and a Green Flag award in July 2014. The Meadows on Ducketts Common Members of ChristChurch, London with a connection to the area together with other local churches such as AOG Christian Life and local residents has been establishing since 2011 in the southern part of Ducketts Common meadows comprising various spring flowers and over 30 species of wildflowers that are native to the area. It takes several years for a meadow to fully establish which means that the show of flowers appearing each season has been changing and increasing year by year. Many a resident and park users have expressed their gratitude and their appreciation for the transformative nature of this work. Often people are quite taken and deeply touched by the stunning beauty and elegant appearance of the meadow flowers as they create a special atmosphere in the park. ChristChurch, London works closely with the park's management and Haringey Council. In the past a number of homeless people have helped with the meadow work. Funds for this work, which are spent on seeds and spring bulbs, come from a number of sources including private donations, funds from ChristChurch, London and charitable organisations. Haringey Council has been generous in donating the snakeshead fritillary bulbs for a number of years. So far over 1,000 volunteer hours have been spent to create the meadows. ==References== 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Ducketts Common」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
